Marketplace Seller Agreement
Effective Date: May 11, 2026 | Last Updated: May 11, 2026
1. Eligibility and verification
To list items on the Community Marketplace you must complete identity verification and Stripe Connect onboarding. Drafts may be saved before verification, but listings cannot be published or accept payment until your payout account is fully enabled.
2. Listing accuracy
- Photos must be of the actual item being sold (no stock images).
- Disclose all material defects, repairs, and modifications.
- Pricing must be in USD and reflect the buyer's subtotal.
3. Ship-by deadlines
- You must purchase a label and hand the item to the carrier within 5 days of order placement.
- If you miss the deadline, the buyer's authorization is automatically voided within 30 minutes; the order moves to canceled and the listing is reactivated. Repeat late-shipment patterns affect your search ranking and may suspend new listings.
- Tracking must flow through the platform's label purchase (Shippo). Off-platform tracking is not accepted.
4. Canceling an order you have accepted
We expect orders to ship. We also know that occasionally an order cannot be fulfilled. The cancellation path is intentionally simple:
- Before you buy a shipping label: open the order and click “Cancel order”. The buyer's authorization is voided immediately, the listing returns to active, and the buyer is notified by email. No fees are charged.
- After you buy a shipping label:the order can no longer be canceled. Buying a label is a commitment to ship the item by the listing's ship-by deadline. If you do not ship, the order auto-cancels (the buyer is refunded automatically), you lose seller standing under Section 6, and the platform absorbs the unused label cost. The buyer is not charged because no first scan ever occurs, but a pattern of buying labels and not shipping is treated as a violation under Section 6.
- After the carrier's first scan: the order is locked in for fulfillment. If the buyer needs a remedy after delivery, route the request through the refund-request and dispute flow. Stripe's processing fee on a captured-then-refunded transaction is not recovered by the processor and is deducted from the seller's portion of the refund.
If you cannot fulfill an order after buying the label, contact the buyer through the order's message thread and explain the situation. The order will auto-cancel at the deadline regardless, but communication keeps your seller standing intact and prevents a chargeback from the buyer.
5. Fees and payouts
Strictly Surf takes a platform fee on each captured order plus the underlying payment-processor fee. See the fee schedule for current rates and the payout cadence. Cancellations before capture incur no platform fee and no processing fee.
6. Penalties for violations
- Late shipment: warning + accelerated buyer refund.
- Bought label but never shipped: seller standing penalty; repeat occurrences trigger suspension. The order auto-refunds the buyer at the deadline regardless.
- Item not as described: buyer refund + listing review.
- Repeat violations: seller suspension and payout hold.
- Fraud: permanent ban + reporting to law enforcement.
7. Account closure
You may close your seller account at any time provided no orders are in flight. Strictly Surf may suspend or close accounts for violations of this agreement or our terms of service.
8. Chargebacks
If a buyer initiates a card chargeback that is decided in their favor, the disputed amount plus any card-network fees becomes a debt owed to Strictly Surf. We may net this debt against your future payouts. Repeated chargeback losses may result in account suspension.
